Microsoft Windows Server 2008R2: empty screen after user logon
Symptom: a user can log on, but nothing else but an empty screen is displayed.
Cause: well, multiple cause can result in this, but the last I encountered was junk in the attribute "LogonHours" of Active Directory for the user.
Resolution:

Cause: well, multiple cause can result in this, but the last I encountered was junk in the attribute "LogonHours" of Active Directory for the user.
Resolution:
- log on the active directory server with administrative account (local or domain admin)
- Open Active Directory User and Computers -> Users
- Right-click on the user -> Properties
- On the Attribute Editor tab, go down to the logonHours attribute
- Click on Edit, Clear and Apply
